Amtrak and Commuter Train Connections
Amtrak is at Union Station in downtown Chicago. To get to the shop connection can be made to the Metra Union Pacific West Line commuter train at the Ogilvie station located four blocks north of Union Station.
The Metra Union Pacific West Line commuter train runs from the Ogilvie Station in downtown Chicago to a station that is about one mile from the shop in Villa Park. It's a 35 minute trip from downtown to the Villa Park station. There are several train stations downtown. Always specify the Ogilvie Metra station when directing yourself there.
American Taxi provides good quality service throughout the Chicago area. To schedule a taxi use their automated system that works very well. 800-244-1177
They also service O'Hare and Midway airports. During non-rush hours it's about a 20 minute ride from O'Hare. The ride is about 40 minutes from Midway. After you arrive at the airport contact them at the airport number, 847-255-9600.
Taxies at the airports. If you don't schedule a taxi on the phone and want to hail one from the stand at the airport you should be aware of "Chicago" taxies. The Chicago licensed taxies at the stands in the airports charge the fare x 1.5 for a trip into the suburbs. We are in the suburban village of Addison. Normal suburban taxi fare to the shop is about $45. To avoid the x 1.5 up-charge, we recommend calling a suburban taxi. American Taxi offers reliable suburban service at the airports without the up-charge.
