The most likely part to fail in the driveline of a drag raced car is the left wheel spindle. This is the yolk that connects the half shaft to the wheel bearing. The left side has more load because the engine torque drives the left wheel down into the pavement. Rapid clutch engagement promotes the failure. It's better for the spindle and 60 foot times to engage the clutch over a quarter of a second or so, instead of as fast as possible.
