Resetting the '90 SIR/Air Bag fault display

Connect the assembly line connector pins A and K together to see the error or error codes displayed in the driver's information panel. Write down the error or error codes. The asssembly line connector pinout is here:

While the codes are blinking, disconnect pin A from pin K for 3 seconds +/- 1/2 second, then connect pin A to pin K for 3 seconds +/- 1/2 second and repeat this sequence in a string until you see only code 12 blinking. There is no need to start over if you do not see the code 12, just keep going and adjusting your timing for a perfect 3 second interval until you see the code 12.

It is useful to look at a clock with a second hand to get into the rhythm of a perfect 3 second interval. Or use a stop watch.

It's easy to make a tool for this. Use a switch for precise control. We have a pushbutton; a toggle switch also works.

Don't let the system voltage go below 12 volts. Connect a Battery Tender or a battery maintainer power supply. Don't use a high-power battery charger that delivers five ampers or more, it could add electrical noise. Close the door to turn off the interior lights to reduce battery drain.
