The Effect of the Air Filter on Power

The AC A1097C air filter is very efficient in terms of air flow.

 

We performed an air filter performance test on a chassis dyno. The engine developed 419 wheel hp and 494 crankshaft hp with a ported OE air box and no air filter. Then we installed an AC air filter with 500 miles of use. The engine lost 3.2 hp.

The filter in this test was made from the traditional amber colored paper. A few months later, we tested the newer version of the AC A1097C that has white paper and is marked Made In China. The power loss is the same.
